
Audiovisual Financing and Commercialisation Seminar
This programme is financed by the European Union, within the framework of EUROMED Audiovisual II programme.
AFIC is a seminar organised by the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (Ina), with the collaboration of the Sorbonne University and the support of TVFI, Europa Cinémas and ALBA. It is financed by the EUROMED Audiovisual II Programme of the European Union.
The seminar is open to young professionals, teachers and graduate students with the objective of starting a career in or improving their knowledge in the following areas of the film and the audiovisual industries : financing, legal aspects (negotiating and setting up co-production and distribution agreements), marketing, communication and international sales.

Audience
The seminar is open to young professionals, teachers and graduate students from the Mediterranean countries (MEDA countries and territories) interested in :
- Identifying and accessing public and private financing sources;
- Boosting the international activity of film and audiovisual companies;
- Enhancing project management and communication techniques, from the development to the release;
- Optimising the legal practice and the negotiations involved in financing and commercialisation of films and programmes.
The AFIC seminar aims at providing participants with extensive knowledge of film and audiovisual financing, the principles of marketing and communication applied to this sector and the practicalities of distribution.

Main strenghts of the AFIC seminar
- A content adressed to a multiplicity of professionals (producers, distributors, young professionnals in the business side of the industry, legal experts, professors and policy makers), therefore setting the basis for enhancing dialogue and exchanges between the different actors
- A partnership with a leading training programme in the Middle East, the production Master of ALBA and with two international oriented organisations: TV France International and Europa Cinémas.
- The collaboration between Ina and Sorbonne University since 2001, which resulted in the creation of IFC (Institut Français de la Communication) in January 2005, a major training and research entity which proposes the most complete offer of audiovisual-related courses in France.
- The strong links Ina has developed with professionals, institutions and organisations in the MEDA countries and territories, mainly through the activity carried out by the production and the training departments
- An approach aiming at developing bridges between the academic environment and the audiovisual industry.
Entry Requirements
- The seminar is open to young professionals -producers, distributors-, teachers in cinema and television schools or universities and students in cinema or television production MBA, who have done at least one internship in the audiovisual industry.
- The participants must be citizens and residents of one of the MEDA countries or territories : Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.
- The lectures and workshops will be held in English, so the participants must be fluent in this language.
Registration
A maximum of 20 participants will be selected on the basis of the application submitted, which should include:
- The application form (3 pages)
- The applicant’s CV
- Two references from a professor or a professional, giving information
about the abilities and the personality of the applicant (this item is
not compulsory but would be helpful)
Pre-selected candidates may be asked to undergo an interview on the phone and/or a written test.

Grants
Participants will be awarded a grant covering the tuition fee, the round trip plane ticket between Paris and their country of residence, the visa fee (if any), accommodation in single room (from the 14th to the 24th July – 10 nights) and meals during the seminar.
